CommentsI have a bit of trouble reading some of this. Whether it's your fault or my computer screen's... I don't know. You might want to retype it in your artist's comments.
Please don't hate me for being mean... Merlin -- Remnants of the past here pass like light through dust as memories, for bleeding, like pain. 'Stiff Kittens' by Blaqk Audio How To Save A Life: [link] "l" in "lazy is the day" is too similar to "s"
Most of the "k" are similar to "h" and thus may be hard to read for newbies. The work as a whole is great, keep up the good work -- "in my barbaric tongue/flowers are called flowers/and about air I say air/and stepping on the pavement bricks/with my heels I tap in/brick brick brick/and I say stone so softly/as if stone were velvet(...)and I love/my barbaric tongue/and say: I love" Lovely! I like that.
You should see some original texts from that time. You'll be surprised if you think that this is difficult to read.
As for the h and k: the final stroke on the h descends below the baseline and also curves back a bit. As most texts used to be in Latin, the k is quite rare, but I find this version quite nice. The long s has a beginning leg on the left side which some people mistake for an f. It stems from earlier carolingian writing IIRC. All in all it's quite legible and a nice piece of art. I think this is your best work yet. Wonderful tight lettering, and stunning gouache colours.
thanks
-- Qvo Vadis Domine? Ego eo Romam atque in cruce mortus esse!!! Commission me, I dare you!!!!!!! Coat of arms [link] You should have seen my profile, believe me, I've seen enough texts from that time, much more difficult ones
I know how those letter look like and why, but scriptorcarelus made some little mistakes. I just pointed them so he can avoid them in future. It's not only a nice piece, it's a really good piece (much better than mine ones), but it doesn't mean it can't be better -- "in my barbaric tongue/flowers are called flowers/and about air I say air/and stepping on the pavement bricks/with my heels I tap in/brick brick brick/and I say stone so softly/as if stone were velvet(...)and I love/my barbaric tongue/and say: I love" Now this is really gorgous! If I had just picked it up somewhere I'd
think that it was written back in the Middle Ages. I really hope you publish your stuff someday. |
