May Christ bless this book Now begins the Story of Sorrows
I am the most famous carelus luyus, high scribe of the abbey of Saint Andrew in this town of Allegefellen, my hand the instrument of the father almighty and of his majesty, king Christopher the pius, High Regent of Galegolder and Oranggroveuer, Defender of the middle lands, Converter of the Annakelt and Conqueror of the Jodista plains and high lord of Dunmier - ihv xp - May god and king bless this book and tale and may titivillus [link] behave and have mercy on my mortal soul. I shall tell you in these beautiful pages the story of the battle of greenswood, those events that lead up to it, and those events that were caused from it. Our poor kyng, being deep in depression from losing Gretchthen, and the massacre that insued, and still being haunted by the ghost of his dark dreams, became recluse, and detached in state affairs. And in these dreams, the truth is this, recalled to me by the king himself speaking only in third - He stood there, like a stone, shivering, in the cold rain that drenched his tunic so much that it began to weigh him down The darkness enveloped her and everything else as well. He started to walk towards her, throwing his whole will into the chore. She too began to walk towards him, her shadowy sillouette soon gave way to the true color form. Her pale milk white skin could be seen through a faint yellow dress that clung to her shape. Her soaking, wet hair of fire red shone radiantly against the dark gloom of the night sky They were now close enough for her green eyes to steal his soul. She smiled and he tried even harder to get to her feeling as if he was weighed down with a thousand chains, while she effortlessly came to him, as if she was a ghost riding in the wind Because of their love, and with a great rush of emotion, they finally embrace. Oh my lord, she cried so intently, I haved so missed you. They just stood there in the angry rain holding one another, gazing into each others eyes, elated. Not much is said, as they enjoyed the silence, and the warmth of each other's bodies. Just that rain that falls from the darkness filled the silence. But then the king when he came to this part, sheds a tear, and continues. . It all ends, she tells me that I must come find her, but where I do not know. And Im thrown back into reality, such a cruel and evil joke. One particular night, this one dream was quiet distressful, and the king felt that he needed consul from his good friend Duke Lord Thominus Oculus pintus(The painted eye), an Italian expelled for what reasons are unknown to me from his town of Scafati in the kingdom of Calabrase So he did dispatch a runner with a message to the Duke Lord Thom. And so the runner went, an by the time he arrived at Austera, he had ridden nearly a day through a cold and heavy snow. He knew how arduous this trip was going to be, going to the Jodista Plains in the middle of winter.
Nearly frozen and riding an almost dead horse, he rode hard into the village and quickly tied his poor horse to the post. Tucked in his girdle was the cargo He held it tight in his right hand, as he headed towards the gates. On the opposite side of the gate stood a guard, half asleep, his mail on his head was crooked, and he was leaning on the gate. Next to him, on a stone block, a make shift hearth roared with a decent fire. The heat coming from the fire made it just far enough for the frost bitten traveler to feel the relief from the cold on his face. The snow that had accumilated on his face began to melt off down his chin Hey, the runner called to the inattentive guard. Let me in before I freeze to death. The guard jumped, as if he was dead, and awoken by the hand of the lord himself. He turned to the runner standing still outside the gate. Well just dont stand there, yelled the runner, let me in now!!! The guard opened the gate, and just as soon as it got high enough, he duck a bit, and quickly made his way over to the fire roaring on the stone. He stuck his hands near the fire trying to thaw, keeping the parchment away from the fire He thanked god profusely as he stood there next to the fire, just for a minute or so, Having warmed up a bit, he headed to the main hall, and opened the door, to a quiet and still hall that was still damaged from the seige on this town from the king's conquest of the Jodista plains from the duke of Brownswood. Even a faint image of the previous occupants still clung to the top part of the north wall Just then, the duke came through the doors on the opposite end, walking briskly towards the runner. "I hear you have a message for me from the king" the duke asked, The Duke was short very short, a man who looks more like a dwarf than human Yes here, and he handed it to the duke. The rolled parchment was slightly covered in snow. The duke checked for the seal and broke it and read it. He rolled his eyes, and said well, his majesty is being a little bitch right now. I guess we shall make haste to Christin? The Runner was not at all looking forward to riding back in all that snow, but reluctantly agreed that they both must go back as soon as possible. So they did ride back through that snow, saying next to nothing as they did so. As they entered Christin, a cold and dreary mood overwhelmed them as they rode about the town on their way to the castle. They both trot up to the doors of the keep, their knots of wood and metal handles showing of age. The Duke jumped off his horse, rubbing his backside in relief. Ouch, riding for such a long time is a pain to one's ass. the duke said. The Duke walked through the doors, His metal Spurs clacking onto the stone floor. You are being a big whiny baby the duke said to the king. This was the first time the duke saw the king with his head hung low. Then out of the blue, their conversation was interrupted. Yet another runner, this one from Zephyr Gate, a stronghold under the rule of William Turman, brother to the king, and Duke of the Duchy of Galegolder. Your majesty the runner cried, word from Zephyr I bring to you. The runner gave the king the roll from his brother, and it did say My brother, we are under attack here at Zephyr from King Penywaun and Require your helpYour faithfull servant Duke William Turman
Both the king and duke Thominus they looked at eachother, et knew that this was the perfect cause for the king to forget his woes. Calphenis! The king called, my horse please and send word for all my dukes to convene at Zephyr, Thominus and I will now go to zephyr. And so they went, in the strong and cold wind, and oh how hard does it snow. The dark cold weather seems to match the king's sorrowful mood. Now Zephyr Gate was a long castle that stretched across the valley from mountain to mountain. It protects the western boarders from the lands of King Penywaun and King Maelitrix As the king and duke arrived to Zephyr, a smell of wicked proportions filled the putrid air, even as cold as it was its still was intolerable. The foul stench made them sick The kind and duke arrived at the start of this battle, and they went up to the top of the embattlements on the outer wall where the king's brother was. Oh brother said William, I am so happy to see you now. Penywaun is waging some nasty and underhanded warfare, and the smell should tell you what evil crap this butt-fucker is up to, I want to piss on the little prick's grave so bad!! The king looked around, and finally realized that the smell that is putrifing the air is of dead bodies. "He's not pulling a Saracen trick?" the duke asked, "yes, answered William, he is using dead bodies putrified with the plauge and leprosy. We have been trying to burn the bodies as fast as possible, but we have already lost 10 to these pestilences. And that is not really the worst of it, continued william, dragon lord has sent troops to aid in Penywaun's cause The king began to think, and he looked out through the small window within the barrack walls and saw the throngs of Penywaun's and Dragon Lords troops. Now king Penywaun was the son of a saxon duke from Wessex, and he was a very violent man with black hair. Penywaun has been hell bent on the conquest of the midlands for years, and it seems with the help of the dragon lord it could just happen. Now Dragon lord is a mystery, as no one knows what he looks like, because he always wears his helmet. and no one knows where he is from, like locusts him and his army swarm and create destruction and chaos. The Dragon is war hungry and a rumor also about him is that he loves to eat cats and other defenseless animals.
The king wanted to know what exactly what was happening, so he decided on speaking with penywaun. The king turned to Thominus and asked, how many conscripts should I expect if I sent for Duke Aldwulf? At least 1000 more my lord, possibly 1500. The king thought some more, and then said, brother, call forth a runner, I shall want to speak to Penywaun and find out what he is up to! It was early in the morning, and the sun was yet to rise and bring new warmth to the land. Far in the distance, was two men on horse back. The king could barely make out their shape. The fire that rose from a torch lit the pale white flag. the king made his way down to his horse, and with Thominus, They rode out to meet Penywaun's men. There, in the light of a lone torch and under the darkest of moons, they met. Greetings, said the king, I am King Christopher James the pious, Defender of all my lands, what is your business attacking my lands? The two men of Penywaun's looked at eachother and then one said this is our business. In an instant, a man in a black tunic came from the darkness with a big club and hit the king in the back of the head. The king fell to the ground and was out cold. The two men of Penywaun drew their swords against the duke and one said, Silence! Or we will kill your king. The Duke was outraged. The one man threw the torch onto the ground and spit on the king. All of this was not seen from Zephyr Gate. And they rode off with both the king and duke in the darkness. The torch still laying on the ground. Then the sun rose, and William saw the lone torch there laying on the gound, and was livid, he gathered up his horsemen quickly and
and they rode But no luck, after three days of trying to find them, William decided to return to Zephyr gate, before Penywaun sent more troops and all the way back to zephyr, William was cusing up a storm with such bad words that even sailors would blush. A vision of beauty can be seen again, and she comes to him again, in the rain. Oh my king, I shall call you soon, I beg for your arms to hold me. The king feels the rush of joy and happiness he rarely feels that is until again he realizes he is lost in the dream world. The rain falls heavy now, so heavy it beats down on his head so much so it begins to hurt very much. And with this pain throbbing on his head, he falls from the world of dreams and awakens to find himself laying in a bed, in a very well decorated room and a very bad headache. He raises his head and sees a young girl, about 10 years of age, staring at him. She smiles and says with a smooth voice, My lord you have awakened, I shall call for Oeritrix. Oeritrix, the duke of Aeronwy? The king asked, Yes, Then, the moment that the king last remembered flashed in his head, of talking to Penywaun's men, then blacking out Then an old little lady walked in, Child! she said, Go at once. My lord she continued, Oeritrix will be here shortly, I brought you some wine, The king drank the wine, the taste was smooth as it went down his throat Then a well dressed man walked in with a sentry, "I am so sorry my lord for this inconvenience Said the man. I hope that we can help you with that nasty welt on the back of your head." "Who are you? And what the hell am I doing here? Oh forgive me, I am Oeritrix Brynn, Duke of Aeronwy, and servant to his majesty King Penywaun of Culhchwy And his majesty felt best that he bring you here, so that he can discuss he claim on the midlands. He has no claim on my lands, yelled the king. Oh but he does, he is the true and rightful heir, and you are a usurper. But enough of discussing this now, get some rest my lord, and you shall feast soon, while we wait for Penywaun to arrive. Penywaun arrived in the late sun, and the king was brought to the main hall, and there, was also lord thominus. There was plenty to feast upon, and the conversation was merry in nature. Thominus and Christopher briefly talked to eachother under the main conversation, and both were in agreement of a dark dirty deed being pulled by Penywaun, whether on his hand, or on Dragon lord's hand. All manner of courses went and finally, during the delectable roasted truffle dessert, Penywaun turned to Christopher, who was on his left, and said, "my hope to you that you feel better from that nasty welt, and do feel sore about such things, but I feel that I could not talk to you honestly without your presence here." Christopher stared at Penywaun, silent. And Penywaun continued, "I shall take you hunting, and there you and I shall discuss the future of the Middlelands. Christopher all of a sudden felt a chill, and was extremely worried that Penywaun may want to murder him in the woods. "Shall it just be you and I, shall not you also extend the invitation to Thominus, for he is a great shot, and loves a good hunt?" I shall, Penywaun quickly said, " My north woods, are great hunting grounds, and we all should be able to score with something, whether be it a bear, or a boar. ' All agreed that a great time shall be had by all, and that next cold morning, Kings Penywaun and Christopher along with Penywaun's squire, and Lord Thominus and the Kings dog handler Caephas left Penderveraillyn Castle, and headed north out of Aeronwy and into a dense wood. There, the dogs caught a scent of some animal, and they tracked such animal for near an hour, till they came across a brown bear, in a break, growling and posing in an attack formation, Penywaun then shot it with his arrow, but not killing it, but only making it more mad. The bear than began to charge Penywaun, and Christopher pulled and shot the bear, but the bear was still charging Penywaun. Christopher then charged the bear and pulled his sword, and killing the bear. The fear of death was in Penywaun's eye, as Christopher stood over the bear, with the bloody sword in hand. Thominus began to laugh. "that bear almost had you, my lord. You'd better stick to boar or squirrel LOL Penywaun scowled at Thominus' comment, and got up. They tied the bear to a horse, and continued hunting, felling two boar, a rabbitt, and oddly enough a squirrel. That night, they camped in the woods, eating on the rabbit and the squirrel. Penywaun began to talk, My lord, I want to let you know that I should have been the king of the middlelands, for I was given such right by the Pope himself." Christopher and Thominus both looked at him, then laughed. Christopher then said, "if so, then why was I put on the throne of the middlelands by the Pope's own bishops of Wales? Hmmm? Penywaun then stated, I have a signed bull from the Pope himself, saying he wishes I to be the king of both Culhchwy and the Middlelands. I would hope you shall take my word, and morrow I shall produce such proof." "My lord Penywaun, Christopher interupted, "I would not give up the throne of the middlelands if the Pope had said, I am the rightful king of that throne, put there by the will of the lord god." This argument went on all night, till they tired, and all slept. Later that night, Christopher awoke from yet another bad dream of his haunt, and rose and found a lake just a bit away from camp, and in the lake, there was an image in the lake, rising up. Christopher widened his eyes, and saw his haunt in the lake. But before he could try to get to her, the naked sillouette of his haunt dissappeared into the woods on the far side of the lake. Shaken by this, Christopher sat by the lake for the rest of the night. That next morning, they made their way early back to Penderveraillyn. They arrived their, by noon. In the town their was a great hustle and bustle as many prepared for Christ's mass. Penywaun, Christopher and Thominus made their way through the crowd, and out of the corner of Christopher's eye, he caught a familiar image. As he turned his head, he saw, in a carriage, his haunt starring back at him. She smiled, He smiled back, and then he stopped, and began to ride towards the entourage that surrounded her carriage. The moment was frozen, and he stopped, turned towards the carriage. Oh such innocence, the pale skin filled and colored only by the life that runs through her. Oh the joy that overcame the king. Could his suffering be over? He slowly rode towards her, and demanded the carriage to be stopped, all this unseen my king Penywaun, nor anyone else in the royal hunting party. She looked Christopher rex in his eyes for what seemed an eternity. Overwhelmed by it all, he froze where his horse was, saying nothing. She began to tell the carriage man to continue, but he broke out of his trance, and spoke, "Leave not, for I am truly intrigued!" The radiant beauty lowered her head and sighed, her fire red hair flowing in the crisp december air. "For whom are you intrigued with my lord? Surely not me?" Christopher said with such an amorous tone in his voice, "Yes of you radiant vision." "Am I a vision? Certainly not!" "Ah, but you are, a vision, a queen of my heart!" "I can not be, I am but a daughter of a baron, nothing to make my worthy of queenship." "She began to blush as he continued, "Sweet girl, I see before me a friendly face, a face whom I have seen before. Tell me, sweet angel, what is your name?" She was taken aback by all of this, and muttered out in her sweet voice, "Sarah." He was even more estatic on hearing this. "Ah, so you are a princess!" he proclaimed, trying to keep his excitement to a minimum. "Princess only by name in our savior's tongue, not of land and certainly not of your heart!"
"But you are of my heart's salvation, kneel to you I do! For I wish to pursue your heart, if I shall be so blessed to win such a sweet heart!" "Oh my lord, as much as you filled me up with kind hearted flattery, I am pained to say to you that I am betrothed for which my father, Baron Nalnchan promised me to a nephew of a Duke from some distant land and soon shall take my leave from here. Our time is truly not together." Christopher rode away, gladdened to finally find this ghost that has haunted him for oh so long, but saddened by such outcome as the events that took placeChristopher then realized he was alone within the crowd, and in an instant, decided to make a break for it. The problem washe was disoriented for the crowd was massive, and was not sure in which way was the front gate. He rode back from which he came for a couple of minutes, till on of Penywaun's men came to him, preventing him from leaving Penderverallyn Back in Zephyr Gate, The Duke William, fuming from the blatant kidnapping of the King and Duke, Dispatched letters to all the knightsand dukes and barons and lords loyal to the king, for a call of arms. He also dispatched a letter to Penywaun, In which he states, "I nor any of the king's loyal subjects shall stand such blatant attack on the king's royal lands, so fair warning you pathetic little worm, I will ride your ass and your lands until free the king, you understand me you gay bastard!! - Guilluiamus. Much excitement filled the air as The Christ's mass comes and goes, and much conversation between Christopher and Thominus
was of two things, How to make their way from the confines of Penderverylln, and the king's meeting with his haunt. Then Christopher, overcome with the will to return to his home and his desire to have Sarah as his, Went to Penywaun, and proposed this. You desire so much control of the Middle lands. I wont surrender my whole territory, but I shall forfeit the Zephyrlands and half of Oranggrower, for a favor. Penywaun stared at the king and said, what favor? "I desire the hand of that Lady of whom I have seen, the daughter of Baron Nanchlon, of whom I. . . CERTAINLY NOT! Penywaun quickly interrupted and declared, I will not have you gallivanting around with a girl already betrothed to one of my ally's nephews. You will surrender all of your lands to me or face such consequences that will not be pretty! Now, take your leave of me, I have important matters to attend to. Christopher grew furious, but knowing of his plight, left with no argument. Penywaun knew that Duke William would soon bring an army and was expecting him to do so. Penywaun dispatched to Draco, again with whom he was allied with, and request his presence in Penderverallyn. As Christopher made his way back to his accommodations, he ran into Sarah, who was accompanied by her lady in waiting Nasirah who is a moor converted to the true faith at an early age by Lady Sarah's uncle, But most times Sarah called her Poma, for when she was a child, ate nothing but fruits of the tree. Now as Christopher approached, Nasirah said, "me lady, look who approaches, tis your knight in shining armor!" Sarah quickly lashed out to her for such an unwanted comment, "Tis not your place to say such words Poma, reminder, you may be a dear close friend and confidant, but nether the less, my lady in waiting and such comments will not be tolerated. Christopher heard this and said. "Oh dear Sarah, much too hard are you on your lady, treat not her this way, I pray thee! My lord, tis not your place to tell me what I can say to my lady! Christopher was stunned then said, Then forget such things" and with all curtsy required of a lady, He bowed to her, and took her hand and kissed it. She blushed even more then said, my lord, I do wish that you not take this in a bad way, But I pray to thee that you will not try to once again woo me with words, such as trifle things that they are! A week had past, and another letter arrived from William to Penywaun, warning him to release The King and Duke, but Penywaun ignored the second as did the first. Draco arrived soon after with 5000 men, and it was soon known to Christopher of the mere hopelessness of the situation, And his desire to leave Penywaun's clutches deepened.
Duke Williams grew tired of Penywaun's lack of response, and finally decided that force was the only option left. So on a cold February morning, Duke William sat there, on his horse, his battered hip hurting a bit, but not so much as to show. Flanking him, was the many Lords Dukes and Barons of the Middlelands. Lord Duke Iamies of Dunmier and his Barons Iahanius and Pedinarius. Lord Duke Dohnaghald of Porta Pacis, and Baron Robert of Furutua, keeper of the Royal fields. Lord Duke Ioe of Foxshole, Baron Andricalus of Allegefell, Baron Devon of Marcenus. Lord Dutchess Gwrthe of the Annakelt Baron Shauvanus of Verna, Lord Aldwulf of Galegolder, Baroness Ericina of Ericina, who can keep a good fight with any man on the field of battle may I add, and the captain of her guard, a moor by the name of Isa Ja'qub al-Qurtubi, which I am told, translates to Yesu Jacob of Cordoba. Cordoba being the place of his birth. And finally Baron Ceolwulf of the Eastern Iodistal Plains. Behind them, 9000 loyal soldiers and conscripts. There, they began their march towards Penderverallyn. At that same time, an envoy from a region of the Upper Rhine was making their way towards Penderverallyn. Included in this envoy was Victor Con Koeln, and his NephewKarl Von Koeln, heir to the Baronship of Koeln and he that our king's haunt is betrothed to. Once at Penderverallyn, Victor and Karl Von Koeln was welcomed and greeted by both King Penywaun and Baron Nalnchan. All seen my our King from his cold dormitory. He was bothered by this, and made his way across to the other side, looked out another window and just happened to see, in a garden among the Roses, Sara. Chris quickly made his way down to the garden, and approached her with both joy and fear. He then spoke, "Oh how beautiful are your roses!" This so startled her. "You should not be here!" she said with such fear in her voice. "Worry not, I am not here to court, but to speak conversation" "Courting involves speaking, so speak carefully," Sara interjected, while giving a look of much distrust that bothered his majesty. What to say, he thought for a moment, then said, "how does your Roses grow so well?" The beauty and gracefull folds of each petal." he took a rose off one of the bushes, and gently caressed the petals, saying further, "surely as an angel you use that heavenly power upon them." She answered with a bit of a blush in her cheek, "There you see, you speak not of friendly conversation, but of amorous things, such words should not be said, for I have asked of you to do so. He came to her a bit closer now, standing as a mere pauper, striped of his pride. In her eye, a sense of concern flooded her thoughts, as he began to speak again. "Once, upon a dream, you came to me, and were much jealous of those who I adored in the past, All those things you said, they constantly run though my head, and such words were this: You belong to me, Can it be, honey, that you're not sure You belong to me Thought we'd closed the book - locked the door You don't have to prove to me that you're beautiful to strangers, I've got loving eyes of my own!" Sara said to him, these truly were not my words, nor am I your rose, to caress. For your Rose has yet bloomed, and awaits for your caress. But they are, he retorts, for your countenance and sweet voice has comforted me so many times in the dream world that I long for. And I only long for them cause you are there, and there you understand. I have known you in spirit for long time, maybe not in flesh, but so the same. I know the Lord my God has guided us together, but now I not know what he has in store for our future. And to this Sara replied, "My lord, I dont know what to say!" Then say nothing, just enjoy the silence." At that moment, King Penywaun and Baron Nalnchan entered the garden, and seeing the two, Penywaun ordered Chris be held in his quarters by guard. Now initially, the alliance of Victor von Koeln and Penywaun afforded such things as military support in any instance, but quite quickly, of learning of Penywaun's holding of another king against his will, protested of such deeds. Not long after their arrival, off in a distance approached Duke William and the 9000 that came in defense of their king's freedom. In which Victor and Karl both claimed Neutrality, but Penywaun decided that they were to stay, and use Sara as a term to help them fight for Penywaun. In William's arsenal, not only was there the 9000 conscripts and loyals, but also 4 seige machines, two catapults, and a Ballista. William decided that since Penywaun had not answered his previous calls to give up Christopher, that he'd would just start the offence from the get go. Now Christopher could not see his army at Penderverallyn's gate. All he knew was there was great confusion as the common people rushed towards the center of the keep. Then, sounds of stone crushing got his attention. A distant but distinct cry of Chris's royal name told him all he had to know, that his Brother had come to destroy Penywaun. But before his full excitement grew, several of Lord Dragon's men came and took him down and put him in a wagon within the livery. The seige went on for two days, all the time the residence of Penderverallyn in fear of what is happening around them. During the night of the second day, They took Chris out in the dark of the night, as the moon was its smallest. To Quintas they headed, but only Lord Dragon's men were among those who took Chris, and Chris felt as if something was not right. During the heat of the siege, the north tower that in which our king was being held caught fire, and collapsed, in the process killing Penywaun, who was in the bottom of the tower in his main hall. At this point, Lord Dragon decided that he was to play peace maker of sorts, and along with Victor and Karl call a truce. Now Dragon knew that King Chris had been taken to Quintas the previous night, but this was neither known to the Von Koelns or Penywaun's loyals. Dragon took another person who badly burned in the tower's fire, and placed King Chris' ring that was confiscated on the corpse's finger. Once the fighting came to a halt, Lord Duke Thominus joined Duke William, and searched for Chris, finding the burnt body. Now Dragon withdrew himself in amongst the crowd as did his forces, and what was left of Penywaun's men including Baron Nalnchan. Now Baron Nalchan professed the innocence of the Von Koelns, since he much desired her daughter's happiness in marriage. Lord Duke William much agreed, and requested that the Koelns stay to help with Penderverallyn's recovery. Such sadness filled the hearts of the Middlelands' soldiers. They all gathered and prepared to leave. The winds were whipping the standards violently, and William with much grief in his heart, lead all back home, Seeming to be now king, claiming Aerowany as captured lands. Two dozen conscripts were left behind until a more supported army can be created.
Now Victor Von Koeln much desired to return to the mainland, and too soon left Penderverallyn to catch the winds home. That night was quiet, and the common people got back to their dull routine lives. Sara, who much feared that she would never see her father again, wrote William a letter to be dispatched wishing that he would release her father. In that time, Lord Dragon and his force gathered at the stables and plotted a very dark and dastardly deed.
They went up to the main keep and easily overpowered the twelve conscripts on duty. They dragged both Karl Von Koeln and Sara down to the courtyard. Dragon came up to Karl, and spoke. "I am here for destruction, and it begins with your betrothal." Karl looked confused, and fearful. "He spoke, "I shall die for her, spare her, kill me!" Then Sara spoke, "Lord, I have no need for your chivalry, I ally myself with him, Lord Dragon. I had no plans to ally myself with your family. I am the one who convinced Penywaun that he should ally himself with the Dragon lord. Fear and pity are not friends, and neither are we. My dear Dragon lord, dispose of him, and we shall take this land to rule together. A look of devilish delight shone in Dragon's eyes. He pulled his sword from his sheath, and in that dark cold night a cry of utter nightmarish fear rang out! Karl fell down on the stones, and Sara stood there, watched him die. Now two of William's Conscripts heard the screams of pain, and saw him dead at the feet of Dragon and Sara. They quickly fled Penderverallyn and caught up with William.
In Quintas, King Chris was put in care of a Dwarf by the name of Hwonbeorn. Hwonbeorn and two others Glennwyr and Matoc took King Chris out to a cottage on the edge of the Barrenlands, cause it would be a place that William would come back though on their way to the Middlelands. Now Hwonbeorn was not at all like Penywaun nor Dragon, He was very much gracious and took much care of him, as well as any king in exile could be afforded. Hwonbeorn was not of Saxon blood, but Briton. As a child, he was taken by Nalnchan. So he much hated Saxons, and any one who was not Gaelic or Briton of blood. A quick friendship was formed between Hwonbeorn and Chris, by the second night, Hwonbeorn decided that Chris had no business being held against his will. Hwonbeorn himself decided his time in the Barrenlands are behind him, and under the cover of night, left the cottage and made their way. Now Dragon left Penderverallyn to mount an invasion of the Middlelands. The remainder of his forces where camping up within the north reaches of the Zephyr mountains, at the headwaters of the Tertiary River. He left behind Cynefrid to keep Penderverallyn with a couple of hundred men. Sara went with the Dragon on his way to North Aeronwy. Half way though the barrenlands, those who had witnessed Dragon's brutality, and Sara's betrayal caught up with William, and told of the betrayal and deceit they had witnessed. William much debated on what should be done. Now, a giant of a man came out from the crowd, standing 7 feet, named Andrehufrid. "My lord, I do believe that our king Christopher would want reparations, I much want Dragon dead, as I am sure all feel the same way." William agreed, and they made their way back to Penderverallyn.
Now William was not in such mood as to let Dragon be. He pursues what he believes is Dragons army very intensely. Two days into the pursuit, They found themselves in the bogs of the Barrenlands, just west of the Zephyr Mountains. Night fell and Andrehufrid and Lahain stood watch over camp. A cold fog soon appeared and hazed the watchmen's eyes as the moon light danced in between the clouds and billows of fog. One could only see ten or so feet in front of him. The night passed on slowly, Then two figures emerged from the dense fog. Andrehufrid lifted his torch and called, "who is that who approaches?" Mittex, scout of His majesty Will. . " "Shh, Andrehufrid said. William was quickly awoken and Mittex said to him, Dragon is in sight, on the otherside of the woods on the hill but they are decamping. William grabbed a map of the area, then said, "Have Amarinus stay here for now, and have Thominus awoken, lets cut them down now! Now the cold fog was soon accompanied by a cold rain, and the new day was greeted with such gloom as an overcast air of foreboding of death. William and Thominus took a party of 10 over the hill, Including Andrehufrid under a white flag. Cynefrid saw this, and laughed. "They think that we are of weak constitution that they can overcome us with only a hand of men," he said to another commander. "Come, let us see what they want." So they too rode out to meet William and such words exchanged that I wont even mention in this fair god fearing scriptor's hand. When William was done with his rant, The second Knight told William that he can go to fuck himself -Oh how this scriptor is tiring of everyone's foul mouth- Andrehufrid did not like this at all, and grabbed the commander with his left hand and snapped his neck like a twig leaving him limp on his horse. Cynefrid dashed off like a cat spooked. Andrehufrid kicked the body of the dead knight and took the horse. William then turned to Andrehufrid and said, "Well, That went rather well, I think" Now a lit bow flew up in the air from the hands of an Archer as a sign to Amarinus that it was time. Cynefrid brought his force towards the ten that stood there against them. The fog was soon gone, pushed away by the rain that began to fall more intensely. Cynefrid advanced onto them, only thirty paces away. It was quiet, only the slosh of their boots in the rain drenched earth and the drops of rain hitting their mail and arms. They had all small shields all painted red, looking as if they were covered in blood. Then out of nowhere to break the silence, a great swoosh came from behind the woods, a mass of arrows flew over the lords and fell into Cynefrid's force, cutting down a quarter of them. Then another cloud of arrows, like a swarm of angry wasps, intent to sting to death all who are in their path. One arrow found its way into the groin of Cynefrid. Then from the clearing in the north, where the brook disappeared into a marshy wood, about four hundred men under the Annakelt flag came advancing south and then about another four hundred came from the clearing in the west under the Galegolder banner. Within five minutes, Cynefrid's force was annihilated, and William searched for Dragon. But he was not there. William marched on, following the Tertiary River all the way down the spine of the Zephyr Mountians, and regrouped back at Zephyr Gate, and decided that he should keep his forces there to protect the Middlelands. But Dragon was headed north, after leaving Sara at a small cottage on the edge of the royal forest. Now Christopher and Hwonbeorn slowly made their way too down the spine of the Zephyr Mountains, but rather on the west side as William made down on the east. But Christopher and Hwonbeorn came across a small tower, hidden in the swampy forests of the Vehimimllyn. As they approached this tower, they could hear a young lady cry. Up in the window of the tower they could see a distraught woman. Christopher called up to her, "my fair lady, why do you cry?" The woman looked out and said, I am a prisoner here, my lord Robinus has broken my heart. He wooed me, telling me he loved me, and then stole my lands and put me here in this tower. But you must go, you might wake up Iessyn, he does not like me to talk to any strangers?" Christopher then said, "I shall, but tell me my lady, what is your name?" "I am Princess Rosa Maria of Kircha. I who long for a noble man to caress." It suddenly dawned on Christopher that maybe Sara's words were prophetic. She had said to our king all that time ago, "These truly were not my words, nor am I your rose to caress. For your Rose has yet bloomed, and awaits for your caress." "I shall return for you my lady, I shall make you my queen, I am that noble man for whom you long to caress!" Rosa blushed, and said, "I shall pray for your return, to save me from this prison!" At that moment, Iessyn came out, and with a arrow, struck poor Hwonbeorn in the leg, saying "Leave now, thou art not wanted here!" Chris went to try to save Hwonbeorn, but Iessyn struck another arrow and killed Hwonbeorn. Another arrow hit our king in the shoulder. He quickly retreated, already bruised and battered from previous events, Chris's progression was slow, but not long after, found himself back at Zephyr. When William saw his tattered brother walking up to the gates, he nearly woke the dead praising the lord. Our king slept for three days, and all he could dream about was the conflicting images of his haunt, and of Rosa. When he finally awoke, and was told of the events between the Dragon and Sara, his heart grew hard. He just couldnt figure out why such events had happened the way they did, and not as he dreamed. But much was to be done. He and his Brother began to strategize. Chris knew that Dragon wouldn't dare try an all out assault on Zephyr. But rather try to invade the Middle lands across the Zephyr mountains or up north. Then he realized how vulnerable his Hallow Hall was, and decided this. He put One Hundred teams of 5 all along the Zephyr Mountains up to the Headwaters of the Tertiary River. There they shall keep watch for any sign of Dragon. He left William and a thousand men to defend Zephyr. The rest followed Christopher to Hallow hall. Upon his return to his ancient hall, He was greeted by his dog and the three cats that are so famous for their intuition and high jinks. From their, He send Lord Duke Iamies back to Dunmier with another 1000, to keep it on guard. Within a week, word was recieved that Dragon had made his way though a tight and high pass in the northern reaches of the Zephyr mountains. All of the Middle Lands were on alert, and one day. the king was in his gardens, watching his cats play their feline games, when a messenger came with word that Dragon's army was in the fields on the south end of the Greenswood, and headed here. The king assembled his gear, donned on his armor, and instead of destruction falling on his Hallow Hall, he lead his army out to Greenswood and Meet Dragon. There the Dragon was expecting no one to be there, and was quite perplexed. Then when he learned that King Christopher was there, leading his forces, Dragon was quite unpleased. Dragon though went forward, requesting that he give up and surrender the Middle lands to him, and to answer him, Christopher killed the messenger sent to deliver the letter, sending back the head of the messenger. The battle was then ensued. Archers launched their arrows with deadly accuracy, and then the hand to hand combat began. Then out of nowhere, two of the cats of Hallow Hall were seen darting in and out of the fray. King Christopher soon came across Dragon, and they began to use their lances to knock each other off the other's horse. Twice they met, but neither fallen. Then all of a sudden, the two cats leaped up onto Dragon's horse and they began to attack the Dragon. Dragon was caught off guard. The king took an axe and then in one swipe, stuck Dragon, and knocked him off, then came around, jumped off his horse and hit him again. Blood shot everywhere, and as he lay there, puking blood, he called out for Sara's name. The king just stood there, staring. For did the Dragon truly love her, was it not a political move? And the king felt pity and once the battle died down, he took the body of the Dragon and buried him there on that field, and later erected a small church in his honor. Peace soon was restored to the Middle lands, and oh yes, Our king did keep his promise, and soon after the battle of Greenswood took place, he returned to that tower that sat in the Vehimimllyn lands, and with only a hand full of men, overtook Iessyn, killed him, and rescued the fair lady Rosa Maria of Kircha. He took her back to Hallow Hall, married her, and she became Queen of both the Middle Lands, and of our king's heart. And as far as Sara, she stayed in Penderverallyn with her father, and was so struck with grief, that she locks herself away from public. And that is the story of the Battle of Greenswood, the story of sorrows, and joy. A very long and verbose story, thank god I do that it is done. Halleluiah
